President Joe Biden announced on August 18th that he is directing all nursing homes/health centers to require their staff be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to continue receiving Medicare and Medicaid funding.
All ABHM communities receive federal funding in some capacity and therefore will be following this directive.
The US Department of Health and Human Services is currently drawing up new regulations related to COVID-19 vaccinations. Specific information on how these new regulations will be implemented and the timing will be published in September.
The safety of our residents and staff is our top priority and we feel strongly that getting vaccinated will help end this pandemic.
Once the regulations are released we will have more specific information regarding the implementation and how it affects all of us. Until that time, we will closely monitor any communication from the federal government and respond accordingly.
